Hull are fourth from bottom in the league going into this weekend’s round of fixture, but the Humbersiders will be in the bottom three if either of West Ham, Pompey or Bolton pick up a win on Saturday.

Phil Brown’s side were beaten 3-0 by Arsenal last weekend, but were left ruing a penalty miss from Geovanni that could brought them back on level terms after Denilson had put Arsenal ahead with a marvellous free kick.

Jimmy Bullard and Ian Ashbee are the two main absentees for Hull, who might field an attacking lineup because of United’s current defensive woes.

Hull City form- last five games- most recent first- Hull scorers in brackets

Arsenal 3-0 Hull City
Hull 0-0 Blackburn
Aston Villa 3-0 Hull
Man City 1-1 Hull ( Jimmy Bullard)
Hull 3-2 Everton ( Stephen Hunt, Dawson, Dean Marney)

While Hull do not score a lot on their travels, they have a more than fair chance of scoring at home. Given United’s defensive problems, one could back Hull to nick at least one on Sunday.

Manchester United are on shaky ground too, and need to recover soon after two recent losses to Aston Villa and Fulham. The defensive trio of John O’Shea, Rio Ferdinand and Jonny Evans will still be absent, but Ferguson could have reliable Nemanja Vidic and the versatile Wes Brown back. Midfielders Nani and Owen Hargreaves are injured.

Manchester United form- last five games- most recent first- Man United scorers in brackets-

Fulham 3-0 Man United
Man United 3-0 Wolves ( Rooney, Vidic, Valencia)
Man United 0-1 Aston Villa
Wolfsburg 1-3 Man United ( Michael Owen*3)
West Ham 0-4 Man United ( Scholes, Gibson, Valencia, Rooney)

While United looked vulnerable against Fulham last week, they should have enough to beat Hull.

Verdict:- Hull City 1-3 Man United ( Vennegoor of Hesselink/ Wayne Rooney, Luis Valencia, Michael Owen)

Date: 25 Nov 2009
Kick Off: 19:45 GMT

In the first midweek game, 16th placed Hull city host Everton, who are two places above them in the table, knowing that a win at home against a heavily depleted Everton side could see them go level on points with the Merseyside club.

Bet with our recommended bookmakers after reading this preview.

Last few games – Hull City -(Most recent first)
v. West Ham (draw) 3-3 (Cole OG, Zayatte, Bullard)
v. Stoke (win) 2-1 (Olofinjana, Vennegoor of Hesselink)
v. Burnley (loss) 0-2
v. Portsmouth (draw) 0-0
v. Fulham (loss) 0-2

Hull city managed a spirited 3-3 draw against West ham at the weekend. Goalscoring has been a problem for the Tigers and the three goals they scored at the weekend will give them a much needed boost ahead of this home tie. The game also marked the first goal by Jimmy Bullard after returning from injury. The former Fulham midfielder could prove to be the difference with his wide range of passing.

Hull will be without the services of midfielder Seyi Olofinjana who has a hamstring strain. Ian Ashbee, who recently signed a new deal, is out for five months and will not feature. Pacy right sided player Bernard Mendy picked up a red card against West Ham and is supended.

Form Guide (Last few games- all competitions- Everton)
v. Man Utd (loss) 0-3
v. West Ham (win) 2-1 (Saha, Gosling)
v. Aston Villa (draw) 1-1 (Bilyaletdinov)
v. Tottenham (loss) 0-2

Everton have been hit badly by injuries. Also, their midweek Europa League games have taken a toll on the squad. They look a pale shadow of the team that made the FA Cup final last season. David Moyes is without a host of key players such as James Vaughn, Mikel Arteta, Victor Anichebe, Leon Osman, Steven Pienaar and Phil Neville. They have been relying very heavily on Louis Saha for goals, and the Hull defenders will have to keep tabs on the former United striker.

Match Verdict:I’ll sit on the fence and go for a draw in this one. Both teams to share the spoils.

Hull City 1-1 Everton (Hunt / Saha)

Date: 19 October 2009
Kick Off: 2000 BST

Fulham, who celebrate their 130th anniversary this week play host to Hull City in the Monday game of this week’s Barclays Premier League. Although it should be a festive atmosphere at the Cottage, Roy Hodgson would be aware of the importance of this tie, considering that both Fulham and Hull City are in the bottom five with seven points apiece.

Bet with our recommended bookmakers after reading this preview.

Bodog ( Bodog, for those who do not know, signed a deal to sponsor Fulham recently)
12Bet
10Bet

Fulham form last five games (most recent first)
West Ham 2-2 Fulham (Murphy, Gera)
Fulham 1-0 Basel (Murphy)
Fulham 0-1 Arsenal
Man City 2-1 Fulham (Zoltan Gera)
Wolves 2-1 Fulham (Danny Murphy)

The weight of European football seems to have proved a bit too much for the Cottagers. Fulham play their 15th game of the season, more than any other team in the League. Also, they could be distracted by the midweek tie against Roma.

Fulham will be without the suspended Kagisho Dikagcoi who begins to serve his three-match ban for violent conduct against West Ham. Simon Davies is a doubt with an ankle problem while Stockdale and Kallio are long-term absentees.

Last five games – Hull City -(Most recent first)
Hull 2-1 Wigan (JV Hesselink, Geovanni)
Liverpool 6-1 Hull (Geovanni)
Everton 4-0 Hull
Hull 0-1 Birmingham City
Sunderland 4-1 Hull City (Zayatte)

Hull City are third from bottom, and at -12 goal difference, they have the worst record in the League. Phil Brown has come under immense pressure from all quarters. The results in the recent past have not helped either. Hull have won only one of their last five, scoring only three goals and conceeding 16. Tigers will be hoping to field their influential midfielder Jimmy Bullard, who signed for them from Fulham after a long layoff through injury. Anthony Gardner could also make his first appearance since August. Ian Ashbee and Richard Garcia are not fit for action yet.

Verdict :- With such a paucity of attacking conviction on both sides, it’ll be foolish to expect a freely flowing game. An engrossing low-scoring draw is on the cards.

Fulham 1-1 Hull City (Murphy//Geovanni)

Liverpool host Phil Brown’s Hull City in the seventh round of games in the Barclays Premier League. Rafa’s men have made a steady start to the season and are sitting pretty in third place while Hull are fighting for points and are stuck at the bottom.

Form guide – Liverpool (most recently played game on top)
v. Leeds – Win – 1:0 (Ngog)
v. West Ham – Win – 3:2 (Torres*2, Kuyt)
v. Debrecen – Win 1:0 (Kuyt)
v. Burnley – Win – 4:0 (Benayoun*3, Kuyt)

Liverpool have won their last four games in all competitions. Although their squad seems to be a bit lightweight, they should be able to brush aside an out-of –sorts Hull side. Liverpool will have the services of Fabio Aurelio who returned to action in midweek. Daniel Agger and Alberto Aquilani still remain long term absentees.

Form guide – Hull City (most recently played game on top)
v. Everton (Loss) 0-4
v. Birmingham (Loss) 0-1
v. Sunderland (Loss) 1-4
v. Wolves (Draw) 1-1

After being hammered in midweek by Everton in the Carling Cup, fans have demanded that boss Phil Brown be sacked. Although Hull chairman Paul Duffen has come out and spoken strongly against these remarks, Hull will have to improve rapidly to maintain their Prmier League status.

Hull skipper George Boateng played only 45 minutes on his return on Wednesday and remains a doubt for this one. Anthony Gardner (knee), Steven Mouyokolo (hamstring), Ian Ashbee (knee) and Jimmy Bullard are all out of the tie.

Match verdict: Liverpool will be really disappointed if they don’t win this one at home. I’d put my money on Torres to score.
Liverpool 3-0 Hull (Torres,Kuyt,Gerrard)

Game : Chelsea FC v Hull City

Date : August 15, 2009, Saturday

Kickoff : 12.45 UK time

Carlo Ancelotti makes his Premier League managerial debut this weekend as his Chelsea side take on Phil Brown’s Hull City at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea recently triumphed in the season’s curtain raiser- the Community Shield, where they beat last season’s champions Manchester United on penalties. The game ended 2-2 after normal time, but while Chelsea scored all their penalties, Manchester United’s players failed to hold their nerve from twelve yards out. It was effectively a tale of two halves- United dominated the first half, while the second belonged to Chelsea. Ricardo Carvalho and Frank Lampard scored for Chelsea in normal time.

Chelsea were also impressive in their pre-season tour of America, where they beat the likes of Club America, Inter and AC Milan to the World Football Challenge title.

The Blues finished third in the Premier League last season behind United and Liverpool, and will be hoping that new manager Ancelotti can bring the Premier League trophy back to the Bridge.

Only two notable summer signings have been made by Chelsea- Daniel Sturridge from Man City, and Yuri Zhirkov from CSKA Moscow.

Hull City were only one of four teams not to conceded at Stamford Bridge last season. The men from Humberside will also remember that it was their goalless draw against Chelsea in February that lead to the sacking to Luis Felipe Scolari.

Phil Brown has brought Villareal striker Jozy Altidore on loan. Winger Stephen Hunt has been acquired from Reading, while Celta Vigo striker Kamel Ghilas has also been snapped up. Seyi Olofinjana is currently Hull’s only non attacking summer arrival.

The first game of the season is always a tricky one, but I think Chelsea will be too strong for the Tigers.

Prediction :- Chelsea 2-1 Hull City ( N.Anelka, F.Lampard/ Geovanni)
