NFL Football: Week 16 – My Picks – A Review

Posted on | December 26, 2007 | No Comments

I had a better week this week…. But still not good enough.

Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals

My Pick: Browns 30-20

Don’t think football is a game of inches?

One bad quarter (the Browns were outscored 19-0 in the 2nd quarter) and an entire great season could be washed away.

But how can a playoff team play even one bad quarter against the Bengals?

Result: Bengals 19-14

Kansas City Chiefs at Detroit Lions

My Pick: Lions 23-14

The Lions will look back at this season and know that they blew it in the second half of the season. But at least they can also know that they pretty well every time they were at home. That’s something to build on.

The Result: Lions 25-20

Houston Texans at Indianapolis Colts

My Pick: Colts 37-16

I was very close with this game. The Colts looked as strong as I thought they would.

The Result: Colts 38-15

Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears

My Pick: Packers 16-7

This was a shocker. The Packers laid an egg in a game they needed to stay in contention for home-field advantage.

The Result: Bears 35-7

New York Giants at Buffalo Bills

My Pick: Bills 24-17

The Giants showed they do have some fight in them.

The Result: Giants 38-21

Oakland Raiders at Jacksonville Jaguars

My Pick: Jaguars 30-10

Message to all AFC playoff teams (including the Pats): Be Afraid of the Jags. Be very afraid.

The Result: Jags 49-11

Philadelphia Eagles at New Orleans Saints

My Pick: Eagles 20-12

If the Eagles had a couple breaks go their way, they would be in the playoffs. They are a decent team playing very good football right now.

The Result: Eagles 38-23

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at San Francisco 49ers

My Pick: Bucs 17-6

The Bucs are a pretender. They’re lucky they’re in one of the worst – if not the very worst – division in football. I’ll take either Wild Card team over them in the playoffs.

The Result: 49ers 21-19

Atlanta Falcons at Arizona Cardinals

My Pick: Cardinals 27-16

Yup, the Cards won… and no one even noticed.

The Result: Cardinals 30-27

Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots

My Pick: Pats 40-6

The Pats jumped out to an early 28-0 lead but then faded. This is not the same team that was playing in October. But have they sunk low enough to be beatable? We’ll see in a couple weeks.

The Result: Pats 28-7

Baltimore Ravens at Seattle Seahawks

My Pick: Seahawks 37-10

And the team playing the worst football in the NFL at season’s end? The Ravens. No question about it.

The Result: Seahawks 27-6

New York Jets at Tennessee Titans

My Pick: Titans 23-7

One more and the Titans make the playoffs.

The Result: Titans 10-6

Washington Redskins at Minnesota Vikings

My Pick: Vikings 27-17

The Redskins are playing great football at the right time. Look out for them in the playoffs.

The Result: Redskins 32-21

Denver Broncos at San Diego Chargers

My Pick: Chargers 33-17

Another message to AFC playoff teams: Watch out for the Chargers. The AFC playoffs are going to be awesome!

The Result: Chargers 23-3

This Week: 11-5

Season: 78-44
