NFL Football: Week 12 – Review of My Thanksgiving Picks Plus Some Thoughts

Posted on | November 23, 2007 | No Comments

Well, I was a perfect 3-0 on my picks for Thanksgiving’s games. But that’s not saying too much since the Packers, Cowboys, and Colts were all clearly the favorites going into the game. And I wasn’t very close on any of the scores. The Packers and Cowboys won more easily than I thought they would and the Colts – while they won easily – didn’t win quite as easily as I thought.

With the Packers and the Cowboys winning, they now are set for their huge match-up next Thursday night in Dallas. Both teams are 10-1 and coming into the game looking to take control of grabbing home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

This game seems to be a bigger game for Dallas because if Green Bay wins then it will be tougher to win at Lambeau Field in January than it would be for Green Bay to win in Texas Stadium in January.

We will talk about this game a lot more next week as the game draws closer. There are many great storylines. Tony Romo vs his idol Brett Favre. The weak Cowboys passing defense against the great Packers passing game. The Cowboys explosive offense against the Packers good defense. And the Packers’ secondary vs the Cowboys wide receivers. I can’t wait for this game.

Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions

My Pick: Packers 27-24

The Packers looked very good. They started off sluggishly but soon found their legs and rolled to a win. The Lions came back late and almost made it a game but Favre and the running game sealed it up late.

Result: Packers 37-26

New York Jets at Dallas Cowboys

My Pick: Cowboys 27-17

Dallas did not overlook the Jets in this one. They scored on their first drive and then never looked back. It was 21-0 before the Jets scored a field goal late in the first half. In the end, the Cowboys blew out the Jets who looked much more like a 2-8 team than they did the team that beat Pittsburgh last week.

Result: Cowboys 34-3

Indianapolis Colts at Atlanta Falcons

My Pick: Colts 37-7

The Falcons jumped out to an early lead and it looked like the Colts might be in trouble. But the defense stepped it up for the Colts and Manning threw three touchdowns in the second quarter. The Colts ran away and won easily.

The Result: 31-13
