NFL Football: Week 12 – Preview

Posted on | November 21, 2007 | No Comments

It’s a great time of the year. The NFL football games are going to come fast and furious now. And this week, with it being Thanksgiving in the States, there will be three games played tomorrow, on Thursday. So I will switch gears right away to a week 12 preview today and then tomorrow I will pick the games for Thanksgiving and for Sunday.

Tomorrow there will be three definite playoff teams in action and one other team that might be going to the playoffs.

The first game of the day – a 12:30 showdown between the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions – will finally have some meaning. Usually the Lions are out of the playoffs by this time of the year. But this year they are right in the thick of things and this is a big divisional showdown.

The Lions really need this game. They are spinning a bit after having a great start. They just lost to the Giants and they have a brutal schedule the rest of the way. So they need this win and if they are going to win then they better control Brett Favre and they better score some points.

For the Packers, they need to make sure they don’t look past the Lions to next week’s Thursday night showdown with the Dallas Cowboys. Regardless what happens with the games on Thursday, next week’s battle will be for NFC supremacy. But the Packers need to stay focused on this week.

The Packers have been looking better and better each and every week. They even look like they might get a running game going to go along with Favre’s great season passing the ball. On Thursday they just have to keep-on keeping-on – protect the ball, score points, and play good defense.

This should be a good game.

The next game on Thursday will feature the New York Jets visiting the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys should win this one easily but the Jets are coming off a big win over the Pittsburgh Steelers and they have renewed confidence. Still, Romo to Owens may prove to be too much. If not, the Dallas defense may be too good for the Jets’ offense.

The late game that night will be the Indianapolis Colts against the Atlanta Falcons. The Colts are looking to build on their win last week, which ended a rare two game losing skid for the Colts.
