NFL Football: Week 10 – My Picks in Review

Posted on | November 13, 2007 | No Comments

It’s Tuesday and that means being sorry for staying up late to watch another blowout on Monday Night Football and it also means taking a look at how I did with my picks this week.

Atlanta Falcons at Carolina Panthers

My Pick: Panthers 20-16

I missed on this one – not by much but a miss is a miss. The Falcons actually looked decent at times and the Panthers looked worse than I expected.

Result: Falcons 20-13

Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers

My Pick: Packers 30-17

I was right about the winner of this game and I was close to the amount of points that the Packers scored. However, Minnesota didn’t manage a single point. The Packers defense is good enough to shut down any offense that can only run the ball.

I see that now. Lesson learned.

Result: Packers 34-0

Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs

My Pick: Broncos 16-13

I hit on this pick too but it wasn’t quite as close as I thought. My goodness the AFC West plays some horrible football.

Result: Broncos 27-11

Buffalo Bills at Miami Dolphins

My Pick: Bills 31-13

Miami is now the last winless team (and you’ll see why in the next section). The Bills did win this one but they got lucky.

Result: Bills 13-10

St. Louis Rams at New Orleans Saints

My Pick: Saints 41-10

I predicted that this one could get ugly and it was ugly. But it was the Saints that were really bad. The Rams were able to take advantage of a Saints team that looked lost for much of the game.

The Rams got their first win of the season.

Result: Rams 37-29

Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers

My Pick: Steelers 31-23

This was a really good game. The Browns jumped out to an early lead, the Steelers came all the way back to take the late lead, and the Browns missed a long field goal that would have won the game.

My pick was pretty close.

Result: Steelers 31-28

Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans

My Pick: Jaguars 20-17

Jacksonville did play well and Vince Young was exploited.

The Titans defense didn’t play as well as I thought they would though.

Result: Jaguars 28-13

Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Redskins

My Pick: Eagles 17-9

The Redskins looked to be in control. Then Brian Westbrook took a screen around mid-field and zigged and zagged his way to the end zone.

Jason Campbell looked lost as he tried to lead a last minute drive and the Redskins defense looked lost for much of the game.

Result: Eagles 33-25

Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens

My Pick: Ravens 28-20

Horrible game. Both of these teams have a lot of work to do.

Result: Bengals 21-7

Detroit Lions at Arizona Cardinals

My Pick: Lions 38-21

Well, I was starting to believe in the Lions.

I don’t believe anymore. Truly good teams don’t lose to Arizona especially when their quarterback is only playing with one arm.

Result: Cardinals 31-21

Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants

My Pick: Cowboys 31-20

Sometimes I have to smile. I got this one exactly right. That’s two for two with picking at least one game exactly right!

The Cowboys are on the verge of running away with the NFC East now that they’ve swept the G-Men.

Result: Cowboys 31-20

Chicago Bears at Oakland Raiders

My Pick: Raiders 20-12

Chicago played better than I thought they could. The Raiders were as bad as ever.

Result: Bears 17-6

Indianapolis Colts at San Diego Chargers

My Pick: Colts 16-13

Six picks by Peyton Manning? Are you kidding me?

Two horrible calls by the refs? You gotta be kidding me.

Adam Vinatierri misses two field goals including a 29 yard chip shot that would have won the game? Now I know you’re kidding.

What? It all happened? No way.

Result: Chargers 23-21

San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks

My Pick: Seahawks 24-17

I got the Seahawks’ points right. But the 49ers could manage a point on the night.

Result: Seahawks 24-0

This week’s record: 8-6

This season’s record: 16-12
