Well, now we begin to look forward to the Week 10 games and the two match-ups I am most excited about are the Dallas Cowboys visiting the New York Giants and the Indianapolis Colts visiting the San Diego Chargers. I’m looking forward to a few other games as well, but the two I just mentioned are the ones that should be really good. Moving forward through the week we will take a close look at both of those games.

The New England Patriots are assured at remaining undefeated for another week. That’s because the Pats have a bye this week. Speaking of the Pats, former coach of the undefeated 1972 Miami Dolphins made some waves when he said there would be an asterisk next to the Patriots season if they go undefeated. Of course he was referring to the fact that the Patriots were caught cheating in week one of the season. Whether Coach Shula thinks there should be an asterisk or not, there won’t be, so I will refrain from commenting any further on it (as least for now).

Now let’s take a look at my top five teams for Week 10.

Number One:              The New England Patriots (9-0)

There’s no question here. They won the battle of the undefeateds. They’ve pretty much squashed all their competition. Something tells me the Pats will be in this position at least until the AFC Championship Game.

Number Two:              The Indianapolis Colts (7-1)

We can only wonder what would have happened if the Colts had Marvin Harrison in the Pats game. We also have to wonder what might have been Harrison’s replacement, Anthony Gonzalez, hadn’t left the game with an injury. What we do know is that the Colts’ offense was lost once they had to go to two tight ends because they only had two healthy wide receivers. Let’s not make too much of the Colts collapsing or the Pats coming back. Take Moss and Welker (or Stallworth and Welker) away from the Pats and watch how well they move the ball.

Number Three:            The Dallas Cowboys (7-1)

They are the best team in the NFC, for now. They crushed the Eagles in Philadelphia. Now, they can solidify their spot in the NFC if they beat the Giants in New York on Sunday.

Number Four:              The Green Bay Packers (7-1)

Say what you want, but the Packers have won consistently and they’ve made play when they’ve had to. They have only one loss through half the season. Being without a running game will hurt them a few times in the second half of the season, but it hasn’t hurt them yet.

Number Five:              The Pittsburgh Steelers (6-2)

They have won convincingly several times this year, including this past Monday night. But they’ve also laid a couple eggs. If they can stay consistent, they can threaten the Pats and Colts in the AFC.
