Torres wasn’t required in the end. 8-0 was certainly not something that many people were expecting.

He was named as a substitute, but was unused.

Anyways, for Liverpool the first step has been taken. Marseille and Porto need to be beaten.

If you read Soccernet’s report http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=479396&cc=4716 even they stated that Torres is training today and might just make the squad, so jazz please check your facts right before posting as well! A doubtful player doesn’t necessarily means they won’t make the squad 100%, there’s still a late fitness test and if the occasion calls for it (like Liverpool’s case) coaches may risk their star players.

Liverpool are yet to make a decision on Torres. But he has a chance of playing, and given the importance of the game and the current form of their strikers, it wouldn’t be a complete surprise if he is asked to take the pitch. If not a starter, Rafa could use him as an impact player if the situation becomes desperate.
