Dallas Survives Officiating

Tonight’s game 7 between the San Antonio Spurs and the Dallas Mavericks was a lot closer than it should have been. Thanks to the horrendous officiating excitement was manufactured. At one point the Spurs were down by 20, but thanks to an almost never ending supply of foul calls, they pulled it even and even went ahead late in the fourth quarter. I am not a fan of either team, just a fan of the sport and the playoffs. The preference for the Spurs was very easy to see.
The Mavs managed to force overtime—three of their players fouled out. By the early part of the third quarter most of the Mavs were in foul trouble. In overtime, Dallas reasserted its desire to win and the wheels came off for the Spurs in the last minute of overtime. There is not doubt that the Mavs must feel like the monkey is finally off of their back. Owner Mark Cuban could be seen going absolutely ballistic at the barrage of questionable foul calls in favor of the Spurs.
Nevertheless, the Dallas Mavericks finally beat the Spurs and they are now on their way to the Western Conference Finals. They will face the winner of the Clippers/Suns game, which is currently in the second quarter. It’s a back and forth game, but the Suns are maintaining their dominance. The Western Conference Final looks like it will be a highly explosive affair, which will draw out even more viewers.
