NBA Totals Betting

You know, betting NBA totals is a great way to make money. The interesting thing about NBA totals are that they often have at least some minor movement throughout the day. If you know what side you are leaning on when the day begins, knowing how they move can help you get a better deal.
If the NBA total is in the lower 170s’, look for the line to move up. Why? Well, if you split 170 in half, you have 85. Most sports bettors think that any NBA team out there can certainly score 85 points. The opposite happens when the NBA total starts above 200—it tends to tick downward, but not always. It is very easy math to see that 200 split in two is 100 points per team, which is a score that many NBA teams will fall just short of.
Today, the game between the Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat opened at 202.5 total points. Over the course of the day, the game dropped to 200 total points—a 2.5 point increase. If you liked the over when the day started and followed the concept we just talked about, you would have shaved 2.5 points off your total’s bet. A quick way to get an idea of which way the line will move is to take the average scoring of both teams and ad them up. If the total is over the current totals line, you might see movement up. If the total was under, you might see movement down.
The next time you bet an under/over in the NBA, give a little thought to this idea and see if you can shave some points off or add some points to your wager.
