Detroit Tigers at Seattle Mariners

Today, we are going to look at the late game (9:05pm EST) between the Detroit Tigers and the Seattle Mariners. Last night’s game between these two was a nail biter. Seattle should have won the game (2-1 final), but they did what they always do—run themselves out of innings with amateur mistakes. As a result, the Detroit Tigers chalked up another win. Tonight the Tigers are sending another leftie to the mound in Nate Robertson. The Mariners are sending Gil Meche—right-handed pitcher. Right off the bat we should make a mental note that the Mariners typically struggle against left-handed pitching.
Gil Meche (SEA) has a home ERA of 3.38 this season—in his lone home game. In 2005, his home ERA was 5.22. More importantly, he had a 10.80 ERA in two appearances against Detroit. Over those two appearances he gave up 13 hits and 3 walks. Both games were on the road in Detroit.
Nate Robertson (DET) has a road ERA of 5.06. His lone road appearance was against Texas. He gave up 3 runs over 5 innings of work. His last outing was a disappointment. Robertson made it just two innings against the Indians. He gave up 6 runs, 8 hits, 1 home run and walked one in that appearance. In 2005, he faced the Mariners once and was hit pretty hard. In 6 innings of work, he gave up 9 hits, 2 homeruns, 2 walks and 5 earned runs.
The Detroit Tigers are averaging 5.1 runs per game and they have had three double-digit run games this year. The Mariners are averaging 4.6 runs per game and they have had two double-digit run games this year. The Mariners are a -112 favorite tonight and the under/over is 9.
