Premiership Manchester United v West Ham

Can the Hammers do it? Can they manage the great escape? While their premiership survival is on their own hands it is a big ask to get the point they need to avoid relegation, with their final game away to premiership champions Manchester United. However, their main rivals Wigan are at Sheffield United, who are still not clear – any one from Sheff Utd, West Ham and Wigan could go down, joining Watford and Charlton.
On the team front, Alex Ferguson has promised to field a strong team, as he believes this is only fair to all of the relegation threatened teams. His team will be collecting the premiership trophy today, although how many times have we seen these big days spoiled by the result?
West Ham will also have a strong squad to choose form, although there is strong speculation that talisman Carlos Tevez may be on his way at the end of the season. His form since the start of the year is the main reason that the Hammers even have a chance of survival, and he has become a firm favourite with the fans.
The omens are not good for West Ham at Old Trafford, with Manchester United only dropping 3 points out of a total of 33 since the inception of the premier league. However, six wins from their last eight games has given West Ham a great chance, and looking back, Alan Curbishley’s first game in charge was a 1 – 0 victory over Manchester United – what would West Ham give for a same again score line?
This is sure to be an afternoon of highs and lows for all of the relegation threatened teams, and while is it Wigan who need to pull a win out of the bag to stand any chance of staying up, it really is all to play for. Will United have a hang over feeling after being crowned premiership champions? Will West Ham be able to hold their nerve in the party atmosphere of Old Trafford? We will all know very shortly.
Forecast : Home Win

Man Utd still have FA Cup final to look forward to, I don’t think they will be fielding a full strength team no matter what Ferguson said in midweek. I think we should be seeing the likes of Kieran Lee, Richardson, Eagles and perhaps even Dong.
