The Milwaukee Brewers are the best team in Major League Baseball. Yes, it’s still early in the season and there is plenty of time for the Brewers to collapse, but right not they are heads and shoulders above every team in baseball. No other team – except perhaps the Red Sox, the Tigers, or the Indians – can lay claim to being anywhere near as good.
On Wednesday the Brewers continued their winning ways by beating the Washington Nationals 3-1. That win completed a sweep over the Nationals and was actually the Brewers sixth straight win. The Brewers now have an almost unfathomable 6.5 game lead in the National League Central. The closest team is the Chicago Cubs who are barely playing .500 ball.
The Milwaukee Brewers have suffered through so many losing seasons that they have to being loving how their season has gone so far. Everything is going their way. However, the season is still young and a lot can go wrong between now and October. Still, the Tigers did it last year so, why not the Brewers this year?
Speaking of the Tigers, they lost big to the Seattle Mariners to snap their 8 game winning streak. The game started off right when Curtis Granderson led off the bottom of the 1st with a homerun. The Tigers actually led for three innings before the Mariners’ bats came alive and propelled Seattle to a 9-2 win.
Also on Wednesday the New York Yankees finally pulled themselves up to the .500 mark with a win over the Texas Rangers. The Yankees have owned the Rangers in the past 8 meetings or so.
On Thursday the Yankees will send Chien Ming Wang to the mound. In his last start he nearly through a perfect game. The Yankees are hoping he can be effective again so that they’ll be able to count on him for a solid start every time out.
The St. Louis Cardinals seem like they may be getting things back together a little bit. They beat the Rockies on Wednesday night.
St. Louis has had a rough season as they try to defend their World Series crown. However, Cardinals’ manager, Tony La Russa, is accepting total responsibility for the way is team is playing. Of course La Russa can’t hit or pitch for is team but he can help take the pressure off of his players. He can also help his team move past the tragedy that befell them a couple weeks ago. If there is a way to get the Cards to play better, rest assured La Russa will find it. He is one of the best managers in the game.
