Premiership Tottenham v Blackburn
Posted on | May 10, 2007 | No Comments
The fight for a European place is very much still on for both teams, although Tottenham are in the driving seat with a six point lead over Rovers, with Blackburn needing to win their remaining games to stand a realistic chance. Tottenham need just one win from their last two games to secure a European place, and end the season on a high.
Spurs may be back to full strength, with only Ricardo Rocha a real concern after suffering an ankle injury at Charlton. Blackburn on the other hand have concerns regarding Khizanishvilli, while long term casualties Robbie Savage and Steven Reid are still unavailable for selection.
Tottenham go into the game on the back of two straight wins, and while they have had trouble keeping clean sheets this season, their strike force of Robbie Keane and Berbatov have been on fire – causing concern in the Tottenham ranks as the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United are rumoured to be lining up offers for star man Berbatov.
Blackburn have recently come from no where to challenge for Europe, having been mentioned as possible relegation candidates earlier in the season. Manager Mark Hughes seems to have a habit of picking up both young and aging players, and getting the best out of them on the pitch. Tugay continues to defy his age and looks set to sign for at least one more year, while Warnock, Derbyshire and Bentley are coming on in leaps and bounds.
Three of the last four Tottenham v Blackburn games have ended in draws, although tonight’s game should be a cracker with both teams scoring regularly. Expect a hard fought, potentially high scoring game, with Tottenham one of the form teams of the moment.
