Premiership Arsenal v Manchester City

The recent run of five games undefeated has taken the pressure off under fire Stuart Pearce, with City’s Premiership status almost certainly assured for at least another twelve months. His team of perennial under achievers make their way to the Emirates stadium on Tuesday, with Arsenal looking to improve on their defeat of Bolton at the weekend.
Arsene Wenger has come in for a fair amount of criticism from Arsenal supporters of late, with Arsenal out of the reckoning for all major trophies. The club have been forced to play second fiddle to the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea, with a squad which had shown promising signs towards the end of last season.
On the team front, the Gunners will again be without talisman Thierry Henry as well as the injured Robin van Persie and Theo Walcott. However, we may see the return of Abou Diaby and Julio Baptista to bolster a squad which has not been firing on all cylinders of late.
Manchester City are expected to name an unchanged side with the exception of striker Emile Mpenza, who suffered an injury in the recent game against Liverpool. The Belgian striker will be sorely missed as Stuart Pearce’s team have been struggling to hit the back of the net, although their defence has been rock solid of late.
While Arsenal are the “come back kids” of this season, winning more games after going behind than any other team in the Premiership, City have not dropped a single point in games where they have taken the lead. It will be an interesting tussle at the Emirates although you feel that Arsenal can beat anyone on their day. It has been a long time since the Arsenal team shone, and they will be looking to put pressure on third placed Liverpool and finish the season on a high.
