NewZealand Vs Ireland preview

Bangladesh’s win against South Africa as rekindled the race for the fourth spot. And Ireland would be hoping to add to the drama when they take on the Black Caps in an all-important Super Eight encounter.
NewZealand are unbeaten in the tournament and have six points to boot. And anything less than the full two points against Ireland would really be a disappointment. The opening slot is a bone of contention for the Kiwis. Peter Fulton has taken over the responsibility of opening the innings after Lou Vincent’s injury and he can be susceptible against the early movement. NewZealand have been playing like a well-oiled machine. All batsmen have got runs under their belt while Scott Styris has really played out of his skin; thus helping the Kiwis’ cause. Shane Bond will spearhead the attack as usual. He bowled exceedingly well against Bangladesh and one can expect heroics from him in this game too. I predict New Zealand to go in with two spinners — Jeetan Patel to partner the experienced Vettori.
Ireland have failed to replicate the form they showed in the first couple of games in the tournament. Their batsmen have lacked application and the Irish have failed to cross 250 in the tournament. Niall O’Brien and Jeremy Bray have both got runs in previous games; while Andrew White and Trent Johnston have been succesful at scoring quick runs. Two stars for the Irish namely — William Porterfield and Eoin Morgan have failed miserably in the tournament so far. Irish bowlers are a bunch of medium pacers with no great variety in attack. Boyd Rankin has hit the deck hard and impressed one and all. Kyle Mcallan , too, has bowled respectably in the middle overs.
It would take a very brave man to punt on the Irish. NewZealand have been in prime form and one should expect them to knock over Ireland pretty convincingly. Shane Bond to take most wickets , Fleming as the top-scorer. Jeremy Bray to do well for the men in Green!
