Premier league set for tightest relegation dog fight in years

The season ahead looks to be a tough one from Blackpool and it seems more than likely the north-west side will find themselves on the bottom of the pile come May.
So if we are to assume Ian Holloway’s men are certainties to go down, then who else is likely to be relegated to the Championship this term?
It’s certainly not an easy question to answer. There are 12 teams who are 10/1 or shorter to finish in the bottom three, so it’s probably quicker to name the teams who look likely to be safe.
Everton, Aston Villa, Tottenham, Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea should all stay up, but any of the other sides could be in the mix.
At 8/1 to be relegated, Fulham could be a good option for those searching for value. The side are currently without a manager after Roy Hodgson left and it seems unlikely that whoever comes in will have much time to strengthen the squad. The London club over performed under Hodgson, and it’s hard to imagine a new man getting the same out the players.
Wigan are my other tips for the drop. At 9/4 they’re not exactly outsiders, but they still look worth a punt. Their squad looks wafer thin, and their best players look set to leave. With Roberto Martinez far from certain to keep his job, there could be plenty of turmoil at the DW Stadium before the end of the season.
Of course, there will be plenty of other names floating around the bottom and, unless something dramatic happens, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if goes down to the last day. Betsplayer.com will keep you up to date with all the twists and turns.
With this being the case, it should present opportunities for those looking to back to lay and lay to back in the relegation markets. With this in mind, Stoke have a tough looking start to the season, and the 6/1 on offer for them to go down could be much shorter come the festive period.
