South Africa vs Bangladesh

After a two day break, the Cricket World Cup resumes with a super eight clash between South Africa and Bangladesh at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.
South Africa have played both their super eight games at the Providence stadium, and the players will have a fair idea of the way the pitch plays. Both the games have been low scoring, and the trend is likely to continue. Against the Irish, the South Africans chose to play Ashwell Prince instead of Robin Peterson. Prince justified his selection with a cracking 47, and it is upto the selectors whether they will repeat the move in this game.Playing Prince would rob the Proteas of a spinner, something they wouldn’t like to do against bigger teams, given the one dimensional nature of their attack. It might make no difference against Bangladesh though. Shaun Pollock returned to form against Ireland. The danger for the Bangladeshis will be in the form of Charl Langdelvelt, who has 8 wickets to his name in the two super eight games. With the bat, Jacques Kallis and Graeme Smith have been the key for them.
Bangladesh, after their upset of India, appear to be lost for ideas. You could argue that New Zealand and Australia are currently the best teams in the world when it comes to form- but the manner of defeat against the two Southern Hemisphere teams would have bothered Dav Whatmore to no end. The Proteas represent their third South Hemisphere test, and they will want to put an improved show. One of their top four needs to get a big one, and Saqibul Hassan looks to have the temperament for one. The left arm spin ofHassan, Razzak and Rafique could come in handy on the slow Providence wicket- especially if Mortaza and Rasel can strike early blows.
This is one of the games South Africa should comfortably win. They may face slight hiccups, but nothing major IMO. Ntini and Langdevelt to come good with the ball, and De Villers to repeat his performance against the Aussies. Kallis and Smith to play key roles with the bat.

It’s a shame what happened to Bangladesh. I hope the world steps up and helps them.
