Two time World Champions Uruguay have never made it to the semi-finals since 1970. Oscar Tabarez leads the South American nation into it’s most important clash in four decades. Uruguay 1-0 Mexico (Suarez)
Uruguay 3-0 South Africa (Forlan*2,Perriera)
France 0-0 Uruguay
Uruguay 4-1 Israel ( Diego Forlan, Maximiliano Pereira, Sebastien Abreu*2)

Oscar Tabarez has already named his side to face Ghana. He makes two changes from the side that beat Korea. Defender Diego Godin has been left out with a thigh injury. Mauricio Victorino takes his place. And in another tactical move, Alvaro Fernandez replaces Alvaro Perreira on the left side of midfield. Luis Suarez, Diego Forlan and Edinson Cavani will pose a constant threat to the Ghana back four. Victorino, Fucile, Lugano are carrying a yellow card.

Ghana – last few games – most recent game on top
Ghana 2-1 USA (aet) (Boateng, Asamoah Gyan)
Ghana 0-1 Germany
Ghana 1-1 Australia(Asamoah Gyan)
Ghana 1-0 Serbia (Asamoah Gyan)
Ghana 1-0 Latvia ( Quincy Owusu Abeyie)

Ghana’s star forward Asamoah Gyan suffered an ankle injury against the United States but is expected to take his place for this big encounter. There are doubts over the fitness of Boateng, John Mensah and Hans Serpei. Rajevac will have to do without Andrey Ayew and Jonathan Mensah – both of whom are suspended. Isaac Vorsah will step in at the back to replace Mensah. Sulley Ali Muntari could also be handed his first start of the tournament.

Verdict: Uruguay 2-1 Ghana (Suarez, Cavani / Kwawdo Asamoah)
