The first dead rubber of the 2010 World Cup sees Netherlands play against the Indomitable Lions at Cape Town. Netherlands have already assured themselves of a place in the final 16 while Cameroon are sure to go home. Place a bet on the game with our recommended bookmakers – 10Bet and 12 Bet.
Netherlands form- last five games- most recent first
Netherlands 1-0 Japan (Sneijder)
Netherlands 2-0 Denmark ( Agger OG, Dirk Kuyt)
Netherlands 6-1 Hungary ( Arjen Robben*2, Robin Van Persie, Eljero Elia, Mark Van Bommel, Wesley Sneijder)
Netherlands 4-1 Ghana ( Dirk Kuyt, Robin Van Persie, Wesley Sneijder, Rafael van der Vaart)
Netherlands 2-1 Mexico ( Robin Van Persie*2)
Dutch coach Bert van Marwijk is unlikely to tinker too much with the side that won the first two games. Star winger Arjen Robben is returning to full fitness and the Dutch coach has indicated that Robben might be involved in the game. Eljero Elia, Ibrahim Afellay and Klaas Jan Huntelaar will all be pushing for starting spots. The game would also provide Robin van Persie with a chance to pick up his indifferent form.
Cameroon form- last five games- most recent first
Cameroon 1-2 Denmark (Eto’o)
Japan 1-0 Cameroon
Serbia 4-3 Cameroon ( Pierre Webo*2, Choupo-Mouting)
Portugal 3-1 Cameroon ( Pierre Webo)
Slovakia 1-1 Cameroon ( Eyong Enoh)
Paul le Guen’s World Cup has gone horribly wrong with two back to back defeats in games they should have ideally won. Poor finishing and lapses of concentration has been the Lions’ bane. Le Guen is expected to give some of younger players a run about. Samuel Eto’o and Pierre Webo would be hoping to end the World Cup on a high.
Verdict: Netherlands 3-1 Cameroon (Kuyt,van Persie,Mathijsen/Emana)
With Robben back into the fold, the Dutch are expected to go a long way into the tournament.
