Game:- Brazil vs Ivory Coast
Competition :- 2010 FIFA World Cup
Venue :- Soccer City, Johannesberg
Date :- Sunday, 20th June 2010
KO time:- 20.30 South African time

The Group of Death lived up to its billing as both games on matchday one were keenly contested and could have gone either way. Brazil managed to come out victorious but will have to raise their game against a highly impressive Ivory Coast outfit. Bet on the game with out preferred bookmakers – 10Bet and 12 Bet.

Brazil – last few games – most recent game on top
v.Korea DPR – Win 2-1 (Maicon, Elano)
v.Tanzania – Win 5-1 (Robinho*2, Ramirez*2, Kaka)
v.Zimbabwe – Win 3-0 (Bastos, Robinho, Elano)
v.Ireland – Win 2-0 (Robinho,OG)

Brazil had to struggle to break down a resilient Korea DPR side. They had to wait till the second half to get on the scoresheet but the link up play in midfield was good. Robinho, Kaka, Fabiano and Elano played their small passing routine to perfection. Melo and Gilberto Silva were found out at times – especially during Korea’s goal.

Ivory Coast are physically strong and will provide a different kind of test. Robinho, Elano and Kaka might find it difficult with Zokora, Yaya Toure and the Ivory Coast forwards hustling and pressing them.

Ivory Coast – last few games – most recent game on top
v.Portugal – Draw 0-0
v.Japan – Win 2-0 (K Toure, OG)
v.Paraguay – Draw 2-2 (Drogba, Bamba)
v.Togo – Win 4-0

The return of Didier Drogba to the starting line-up will be the biggest plus for Ivory Coast. Ericksson’s side created a lot of chances against Portugal. Gervinho was impressive with his movement off the ball. Kader Keita with his trickery and pace provides another good option for the Elephants. Didier Zokora and Guy Demel are on a yellow card and need to be careful not pick up another one.

Verdict: Brazil 1-2 Ivory Coast (Robinho // Drogba, Gervinho)

I’ll stick my neck out and fancy the African powerhouse in this one. The Elephants were close to winning against Portugal and could pull off a coup against Dunga’s Brazil.
