Bet on Netherlands vs Japan with our recommended bookmakers after reading this preview
The Dutch did not exactly demolish or thrash the Danes, but coach Bert van Marwijk was reasonably satisfied with the Oranje’s start to the World Cup. Daniel Agger’s own goal broke the deadlock and substitute Eljero Elia set up Agger’s Liverpool teammate for Holland’s second. Wesley Sneijder had an excellent game for the Dutch and will again be the man to watch out against Japan. Arjen Robben will not recover in time for this fixture.
Netherlands form- last five games- most recent first- Netherlands scorers in brackets
Netherlands 2-0 Denmark ( Agger OG, Dirk Kuyt)
Netherlands 6-1 Hungary ( Arjen Robben*2, Robin Van Persie, Eljero Elia, Mark Van Bommel, Wesley Sneijder)
Netherlands 4-1 Ghana ( Dirk Kuyt, Robin Van Persie, Wesley Sneijder, Rafael van der Vaart)
Netherlands 2-1 Mexico ( Robin Van Persie*2)
Netherlands 2-1 United States ( Dirk Kuyt, Robin Van Persie)
Netherlands last starting XI
Stekelenburg- Van Bronckhorst, Mathijsen, Heitinga, Van der Wiel- De Jong, Van Bommel- Van der Vaart, Sneijder, Kuyt- Robin Van Persie
Japan eased the pressure on under fire coach Takeshi Okada with a win over Cameroon in their opener. Keisuke Honda’s strike gave the Japanese their first World Cup win on foreign soil. With Holland’s strength lying in their attacking quartet of Van Persie, Sneijder, Kuyt and van der Vaart/Elia, Japan are expected to pack players in midfield and frustrate the Dutch.
Japan form- last five games- most recent first- Japan scorers in brackets-
Japan 1-0 Cameroon ( Keisuke Honda)
Japan 0-2 Ivory Coast
Japan 1-2 England ( Tulio)
Japan 0-2 Korea
Japan 0-3 Serbia
As you can see, Japan’s form prior to the World Cup was awful and few people give them a chance of beating Cameroon.
Verdict:- The Dutch to be too strong for the Japanese. They beat them 3-0 in a friendly last year too.
Netherlands 3-0 Japan ( Van Persie, Sneijder, Kuyt)
