The Super Eagles were beaten 3-1 by a weakened Egypt side in their first a game. They did manage to take the lead through Chinedu Obasi, but Egypt recovered well to complete a comeback win. Super Eagles coach Amodu was left lamenting the way the players played and alleged that they did not follow his instructions. There are rumours in the press that Amodu will be shown the door if Nigeria do not get the result they want against Benin.

Egypt 3-1 Nigeria ( Chinedu Obasi)
Kenya 2-3 Nigeria ( Obafemi Martins*2, Yakubu)
Nigeria 1-0 Mozambique ( Victor Obinna)
Nigeria 2-2 Tunisia ( Peter Odemwingie, Michael Eneramo)
Tunisia 0-0 Nigeria

Benin were on course for their first win in the history of the African Nations Cup, but Michel Dussuyer’s men somehow squandered a two goal advantage to draw 2-2 with Mozambique. Keeper Yoaan Djidonou had a dreadful day in goal as he virtually gifted the Mambas both goals. Benin’s first goal, a penalty won by Mouritala Ogunbiyi, was converted by Razak Omotoyossi. Incidenally, both Omotoyossi and Ogubiyi are players of Nigerian origin.

Given Egypt and Nigeria’s statuses as African heavweights, Benin coach Dussuyer would have desperately wanted to take all three points from the Mozambique fixture. And with the Super Eagles facing a do or die situation, Benin’s task has just got more hard.

Benin 2-2 Mozambique ( Razak Omotoyossi, Dario Khan OG)
Benin 1-0 Libya (Stephane Sessegnon)
Sudan 1-2 Benin ( Razak Omotoyossi, Romauld Boco)
Benin 1-0 Ghana (Mohamed Aoudou )
Benin 1-1 Mali (Mohamed Aoudou )

Benin’s best chance of a result would be to hit the Super Eagles early in the game. With Taiye Taiwo going forward so often, effective use of the right flank could see Benin pose problems for Nigeria.

Verdict:- Nigeria 2-0 Benin ( Chinedu Obasi, Yakubu)
