NFL: Previewing Jets at Chargers

The Divisional Round of the playoffs will wrap-up on Sunday afternoon with the New York Jets visiting the San Diego Chargers. In all honesty, this is probably the least intriguing game of the weekend. The two main reasons for this are because the Jets are the type of team that doesn’t pack a whole lot of excitement (unless you like defense and a quarterback who only throws about a dozen times a game) and because the Chargers will probably win this game easily.

Look, for the last half of the season the Chargers were the best team in football. Even while the Saints and the Colts still had their perfect seasons going, it started to become evident that the Chargers were playing the best football. Now, it’s obvious.

Yes, the Jets do have a puncher’s chance in this game because they have a great defense. However, their defense isn’t the ’85 Bears or anything. And their defense won’t be able to slow down this Chargers offense.

Meanwhile, the Jets’ offense won’t be able to keep pace with the Chargers’ offense. The Jets won’t be able to keep things simple and run the ball the majority of the time. They will have to trust Mark Sanchez to make some plays throwing down the field. That is a very dangerous situation for the Jets. And it will prove fatal to them.

The only chance the Jets have is to get up early on the Chargers and then milk the clock with their running game. But even if that happens, the Chargers will still be able to score quickly enough to come back.

The San Diego Chargers are a lot better than the Bengals, the team that lost to the Jets last weekend. So, expect the Chargers to be up by at least 10 at halftime and to win this game by at least 17 points.

The final score for this one will probably be somewhere around 31-14 in favor of the Chargers.
