NFL: Quick Reactions to the First Day of the Playoffs
Posted on | January 11, 2010 | No Comments
After the first day of the playoffs, we now are halfway (or 75% of the way) to having the Divisional Round of the playoffs all set. And on the first day we saw a team from the AFC and a team from the NFC advance. But did we really learn from each game? Let’s take a look at that right now.
New York Jets at Cincinnati Bengals
The Jets handled the Bengals in Cincinnati with relative ease. The Jets won the game 24-14 and they were never really threatened.
But what did we learn? Well, the Jets are better than a lot of people thought they were. They have a really good defense and a solid running game. But we also learned that Carson Palmer isn’t any better than average and we also learned that the Bengals were too injured to make an impact in the playoffs.
Moving forward we now know the Jets will be playing at San Diego next Sunday. It will be the last game of the weekend. It will be interesting to see how the Jets defense holds up against the Chargers offense. And it will be interesting to see how the Jets and Mark Sanchez handle the Chargers defense.
Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys
For the second week in a row the Dallas Cowboys absolutely took the Eagles behind the woodshed. The Cowboys embarrassed the Eagles who just looked completely over-matched.
So, the Eagles weren’t that good this year. In fact, they never beat a playoff team this year. But the Cowboys are playing great football too. They are really good in all 3 facets of the game. And their defense is leading the way. They overwhelmed the Eagles and now they’ll move on and try do the same to the Minnesota Vikings.
While we don’t know who will win this game, we do know that the Vikings can’t be happy about seeing the Cowboys coming to town when the Boys are on such a hot streak.
