Great Day

Yesterday I gave you my first two picks of the new MLB season and they both came through. They went down as predicted. The Mariners scored early and as soon as their bullpen came in, the scoring really opened up. The big hitters for the Mariners showed up and the game sailed past the over of 8 with ease. The Dodgers game came through as well. The game was pretty clear sailing until the end, but the outcome is what we wanted.

Today, there are a couple games worth taking a peak at. I am not selecting any games today, merely looking at some possibilities. The first game to take a peak at would be the Cardinals at Phillies. The Cardinals won the first game of the series and send Mark Mulder to the mound today. The Phillies are countering with Brett Myers. The under/over is 9 for a reason, both of these pitchers are prone to giving up runs. Mulder had an ERA over 4 on the road last year and his ERA swelled to over 6 against the Phillies. On the surface, this looks like a possible Phillies win. If the game interests you, do some more research on it.

The other interesting game is the Yankees at the A’s. Last night, the A’s held the hall of fame lineup of the Yankees to just 3 runs. Can they be held two nights in a row? Maybe. The A’s are putting Dan Haren on the mound and he has pitched well against the Yankees (in 2005). Meanwhile, the Yankees are countering with Chien-Ming Wang, who has never pitched against the A’s. Pitching wise, it looks like a close match up. The Yankees obviously outclass the A’s, by far, in the hitting arena. Right now the Yankees are only a -112 favorite. It might be worth rolling the dice on the Yankees considering they were, by in large, shut down last night.
