NFL: Breaking Down Each Playoff Team in the NFC

Posted on | January 4, 2010 | No Comments

Later in the week we’ll take a look at the match-ups for the first week of the playoffs. Right now let’s take a few minutes to analyze each team that’s in the playoffs representing the NFC.

1. New Orleans Saints

The Saints looked like they might be one of the best teams in the history of the NFL for the first 13 weeks. But after starting 13-0 they are now 13-3. Even when they were winning they were playing horrible defense. So, that has to be a major concern for them.

2. Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings looked impressive against the Giants in the last game of the season. However, the 4 games before that were a disaster for the Vikings. And the Giants packed it in after their 14th game. There’s still trouble in Minnesota. Mark my words.

3. Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys have been up and down this year. Right now they are playing great football. In fact, for the first time ever they have back-to-back shutouts to their credit. And Romo and the offense is firing on all cylinders. But the Cowboys will have to beat the Eagles two weeks in a row and three times in a season in order to win their first playoff game since 1996.

4. Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals have looked pretty bad lately too. They are the defending NFC Champs and they could get hot and sweep through the playoffs. But they will open against a hot Packers team that just crushed them in the last game of the season.

5. Green Bay Packers

The Packers are a dangerous team. Aaron Rodgers is playing great football and the Packers defense is solid too. Don’t be surprised if the Packers make some noise in the playoffs.

6. Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles went into Dallas riding high. They had won 6 straight games and they just needed one more win for the #2 seed in the NFC. Then they got hammered by the Cowboys. Now they’ll play Dallas again in the same spot. Of major concern to the Eagles has to be the fact that they haven’t beaten a playoff team the entire year. Of course, they can change all that next weekend.
