NFL: Picking the Cowboys and Eagles Winner

This kinda feels like the movie Groundhog Day. Hasn’t all of this happened before? You know, the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles meeting in the last game of the season with a lot on the line? Yes, in fact, it happened just last year.

There are differences between last year’s and this year’s match-ups, of course. Last year these 2 teams were playing for a spot in the playoffs. This year both of these teams are in the playoffs but they are playing for the NFC East Championship. And last the game was played in Philadelphia and this year it will be in Dallas.

In last year’s game the Dallas Cowboys didn’t show up. They were absolutely blown out. The final score was 44-6. And the Eagles would go on to the NFC Championship game.

But this year I expect this to be a really close game. The Dallas Cowboys are coming off victory over the #1 seed in the NFC, New Orleans Saints, and a 17 point win over the Washington Redskins. The Eagles have won 6 straight games and they are in line to take the #2 seed in the NFC. So, which one of these teams should be favored?

Well, a closer look at the Eagles and their winning streak shows that they really haven’t beaten any good teams. In fact, all season they haven’t beaten any playoff teams. If they beat the Cowboys then that will be the first time they’ve beaten a playoff team all year.

So, this means the Dallas Cowboys should be favored. And I think the Cowboys will win the game. The Cowboys will be able to put enough pressure on Donovan McNabb and they will be able to move the ball against the Eagles defense. Jason Witten and Miles Austin will make big plays as Tony Romo gets rid of the ball against the blitz. Romo has been playing really well and I expect him to play well against the Eagles.

So, I like the Cowboys to win this game by a score of something like 30-24.
