Hull are fourth from bottom in the league going into this weekend’s round of fixture, but the Humbersiders will be in the bottom three if either of West Ham, Pompey or Bolton pick up a win on Saturday.
Phil Brown’s side were beaten 3-0 by Arsenal last weekend, but were left ruing a penalty miss from Geovanni that could brought them back on level terms after Denilson had put Arsenal ahead with a marvellous free kick.
Jimmy Bullard and Ian Ashbee are the two main absentees for Hull, who might field an attacking lineup because of United’s current defensive woes.
Hull City form- last five games- most recent first- Hull scorers in brackets
Arsenal 3-0 Hull City
Hull 0-0 Blackburn
Aston Villa 3-0 Hull
Man City 1-1 Hull ( Jimmy Bullard)
Hull 3-2 Everton ( Stephen Hunt, Dawson, Dean Marney)
While Hull do not score a lot on their travels, they have a more than fair chance of scoring at home. Given United’s defensive problems, one could back Hull to nick at least one on Sunday.
Manchester United are on shaky ground too, and need to recover soon after two recent losses to Aston Villa and Fulham. The defensive trio of John O’Shea, Rio Ferdinand and Jonny Evans will still be absent, but Ferguson could have reliable Nemanja Vidic and the versatile Wes Brown back. Midfielders Nani and Owen Hargreaves are injured.

Man United 3-0 Wolves ( Rooney, Vidic, Valencia)
Man United 0-1 Aston Villa
Wolfsburg 1-3 Man United ( Michael Owen*3)

While United looked vulnerable against Fulham last week, they should have enough to beat Hull.
