Tottenham vs Wigan – Betting Preview

Posted on | November 21, 2009 | No Comments

Game: Tottenham Hotspur vs Wigan Athletic
Competition: Barclays Premier League
Venue: White Hart Lane, London
Time: 15:00 GMT

When the fixture lists came out, this game was scheduled to be on a Saturday. It was postponed 24 hours to give players enough time to recover from the international break. Recovery will be difficult for Ireland and Spurs captain Robbie Keane, as he looks to shake off the “Hand of God – Part 2″ incident as he leads fourth placed Tottenham onto the field against Wigan.

Here are some excellent bookmakers for you to place a bet. Be sure to read our preview before heading over to bet.

Form Guide ( Last few games- all competitions- Tottenham Hotspur)
v. Sunderland (Win) 2-0 (Huddlestone, Keane)
v. Arsenal (Loss) 0-3
v. Everton (Win) 2-0 (Huddlestone, Keane)
v. Stoke City (Loss) 0-1

Even after stuttering in recent games, Tottenham find themselves in fourth position, largely due to the inability of teams around them to put together a winning run. There’s better news for Harry. Lennon returns to the squad following an ankle injury. Also, Sebastien Bassong is in contention after recovering from hamstring strain. Luka Modric and Ledley King have resumed training, but neither of them is match fit to play against Wigan.

Form guide –Wigan (most recently played game on top)
v. Fulham (Draw) 1-1 (Boyce)
v. Portsmouth (Loss) 0-4
v. Burnley(Win) 3-1 (Rodallega*2, Boyce)
v. Manchester City (Draw) 1-1 (N’Zogbia)
v. Hull City (Loss) 1-2 (Sinclair)

Wigan lie 13th in the table but have a couple of high profile scalps to boot. They seem to raise their game against high profile teams and have already beaten Chelsea and taken a point off Manchester City. Wigan have just one injury problem – with Manuel Figueroa on the sidelines. Former Spurs man Erik Edman will deputize at left back. Also, it will be Winston Palacios’ first game against his old side after transferring to Spurs.

Match Verdict: I’ll put my money on Spurs to win this at home. Spurs have been playing free flowing attacking football at home and should go on to win this.

Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 Wigan Athletic (Keane, Lennon)
