Cardiff v Nottingham Forest Preview

This promises to be a cracking Sunday game as two of the form sides of the division go head to head. Cardiff have won four out of their last five games, while Nottingham Forest’s form is even better with Billy Davies’ men collecting five victories from their last six. That means that both are challenging at the right end of the table and Cardiff have the extra incentive of going top of the league if they can produce another win in this encounter.
Cardiff always seem to be challenging at the right end of the table although usually, they tend to just miss out. However, they’ve started this campaign on fire and as it stands Dave Jones’ men sit in 4th position, just two points away from top spot. Their last game showed just how strong they have become this season as even though they were pitted against an out-of-form Sheffield United side, to win 4-3 at Bramall Lane is still an excellent achievement. With the likes of Peter Whittingham and Michael Chopra both in double figures for the season, the Bluebirds also have plenty of individuals who are stepping up to the mark and that needs to continue if they are to maintain their current position.
Nobody was quite sure how Nottingham Forest would fare this season after the City Ground outfit spent millions of pounds during the summer on new recruits. After struggling last season they needed big changes and by the looks of things, this summer investment looks to have done the trick. As it stands, Billy Davies’ men are in 10th position but with just one point separating them from the top six, they know they could move into 5th spot with the right result on Sunday. As it stands they are the form team of the division and they dropped points for the first time in six games when they drew to Crystal Palace in their last outing.
As for team news, it’s mixed news for Cardiff as Dave Jones prepares to be without Kevin McNaughton and Kelvin Etuhu who are both out injured. However, there could be some good news with striker Jay Bothroyd being declared fit enough after struggling with a knee problem. As for the visitors, Billy Davies may have to do some reshuffling. Strikers Dexter Blackstock and Rob Earnshaw are both out injured, while James Perch is also out with a shin problem. However, Guy Moussi should return to the squad after missing the last game through suspension.
Both of these teams are in fantastic form at the moment and both managers will probably be aiming for a top six finish come the end of the season. On paper, these two sides look fairly equal and considering recent results, we can only predict a draw here – 0-0.
