Burnley vs Wigan – Betting Preview

Game: Burnley vs Wigan Athletic
Competition: Barclays Premier League
Venue: Turf Moor
Time: 15:00 GMT
Burnley play their second local derby in as many games as they play hosts to Wigan Athletic at Turf Moor. Burnley were humbled 2-3 in their last derby at Blackburn, but on home soil Owen Coyle’s men will be full of confidence. Burnley have a 100% home record, winning all four of their home ties, and it should be an interesting duel at Turf Moor.
Fancy Burnley to continue with their winning ways ? Here are some excellent bookmakers for you to place a bet. Be sure to read our preview before heading over to bet.

Form guide – Burnley (most recently played game on top)
v. Blackburn (Loss) 2-3 (Blake, Eagles)
v. Birmingham City (Win) 2-1 (Bikey, Fletcher)
v. Tottenham (Loss) 0-5
v. Barnsley (Loss) 2-3 (Fletcher,Eagles)
v. Sundeland (Win) 3-1 (Alexander, Nugent *2 )
Burnley have nagging injury worries going into the game. Forwards Jay Rodrigues and Martin Patterson are unavailable through injury. There is also some doubt over the fitness of the exciting Ecuadorian winger Fernando Gurrerro. Chris Eagles has been impressive whenever he has come on as a substitute and he might feature for the full 90 minutes on home turf. Andre Bikey is expected to play in midfield with Carlisle and Caldwell in the heart of defence.
Form guide –Wigan (most recently played game on top)
v. Manchester City (Draw) 1-1 (N’Zogbia)
v. Hull City (Loss) 1-2 (Sinclair)
v. Chelsea (Win) 3-1 (Rodallega, Scharner, Bramble)
v. Arsenal (Loss) 0-4
v. West Ham (Win) 1-0 (Rodallega)
Roberto Martinez’s side got a creditable 1-1 draw against Manchester City last weekend and could have easily won the game after City were reduced to ten men. Chris Kirkland dislocated his finger against City and Mike Politt would deputize for him. Also injured is Paul Scharner, who is struggling with a hip injury.
The two teams last met a Turf Moor in 2004 when Burnley emerged 1-0 winners.
Match Verdict: Burnley’s home crowd aids their side as the 12th man. The partisan support should see them edge this one 2-1. I’ll go with Burnley to continue with their fine home form.
Burnley 2-1 Wigan (Nugent, Blake // Jason Scotland)
