Arsenal v Birmingham City – Betting Preview

Posted on | October 16, 2009 | No Comments

Game : Arsenal v Birmingham City
Competition : Barclays Premier League
Venue : Emirates Stadium, London
Time : 15:00 GMT

A young, dynamic Arsenal side who have a reputation of trouncing lowly teams by huge margins at home eagerly await Birmingham City’s visit to Emirates Stadium. Birmingham have been taken over by Asian businessman Carson Yeung and Alex Mcleish has been offered a £40m transfer kitty for the summer. But will all the money help them salvage even a solitary point at the Emirates ?

You could bet on a comfortable Arsenal home win. Here are some excellent bookmakers for you to place a bet.

Form guide ( Last five games- all competitions- Arsenal)
Arsenal v Blackburn Win (6-2) (Vermaelen, van Persie, Arshavin, Fabregas, Walcott, Bendtner)
Arsenal v Olympikos Win (2-0) (van Persie, Arshavin)
Fulham v Arsenal Win (1-0) (van Persie)
Arsenal v Wigan (4-0) Win (Vermaelen *2, Eduardo, Fabregas)

Arsenal have won everything at home this season, with both their defeats coming at Manchester. Birmingham City will set their stall to defend, but Arsenal should have enough firepower to breach their defence.
Arsenal are sweating over the fitness of Manuel Almunia, who has missed six games with a chest infection. Also doubtful for the game are, Eduardo and William Gallas – who broke his teeth while playing for France in midweek. Denilson is surely out with an injury.

Form guide (Birmingham City – last five games)
v Burnley (Loss) 1-2 (S.Larsson)
v Bolton (Loss) 1-2 (K.Phillips)
v Sunderland (Loss) 0-2
v Hull City (Win) 1-0 (Gary O’Connor)
v Aston Villa (Loss) 0-1

Birmingham City will play their first game after being taken over Carson Yeung and all the players and manager would be out to put up a respectable performance in front of their new owners. City have been in wretched form, winning only one game in five. Birmingham have gone 26 games since they lost by more than one goal. This should be a stern test of that record. Birmingham miss the services of Martin Taylor while Mcfadden, Bent and D. Johnson are unlikely to feature.

Match verdict: Arsenal have won 4-0,4-1,6-2 at home at various stages this year. Take your pick. :P
