MLB: Dodgers Sweep, Yanks and Angels Look to Follow

Wow. That’s all I have to say. Just wow.
I’m pretty much shocked that the Los Angeles Dodgers were able to sweep the St. Louis Cardinals. I thought the Dodgers would win the series but I really believed it would take 5 games.
The Dodgers didn’t look all that good at the end of the season. In fact, they were sliding for a while. But now, as Joe Torre teams often do, they have seemed to put it all together for the playoffs. They absolutely rolled the Cards – they only trailed a total of 2 complete innings in the series. Yes, they needed a bottom of the 9th comeback in game 2 but they completely dominated the other 2 games.
Now the Dodgers will move on and await the winner of the Phillies and the Rockies. They’ll hope for that series to go 5 so that they can rest and the other team can get worn down. And it looks like they just might get a 5 game series too – that series is currently tied 1-1.
Over in the American League the Yankees and the Angels will go for sweeps on Sunday. They will both be on the road and winning game 3 won’t be easy. The Yankees will have to go into the Metrodome and win in order to complete the sweep. The Angels will have to go into Fenway Park and win in order for them to do complete their sweep.
I don’t see either 1 of these sweeps happening. I just don’t think it will happen. But then again, I didn’t think the Dodgers would be able to sweep the Cards. So now, maybe we are looking at a sweep in one of the AL playoffs series too. And if there’s going to be one then I would have to go with the Yankees. They have a refuse to lose attitude and they have the Twins’ number.
But we will see in a few short hours if a sweep happens.
