Sunderland were beaten 3-1 by Burnley last week at Turf Moor, but managed to beat Birmingham City 2-0 in the midweek Carling Cup fixture. The Black Cats have been quite strong at home this season- two of their league wins came at Wearside, and their only defeat was against Chelsea.

Lee Cattermole will undergo a late fitness test after returning to training from his groin injury. Goalkeeper Marton Fulop and defender George McCartney are also in line for a return. It might be too early for Fulop, but McCartney should start after missing the Carling Cup game as a precautionary measure.

Sunderland form- last five games- all competitions

Sunderland 2-0 Birmingham ( Henderson, Fraizer Campbell)- Carling Cup
Burnley 3-1 Sunderland ( Darren Bent)
Sunderland 4-1 Hull ( Darren Bent*2, Andy Reid, Zayatte Og)
Stoke 1-0 Sunderland
Norwich 1-4 Sunderland ( Teemu Tainio, Andy Reid*2, OG)- Carling Cup

Darren Bent has been in great form for Sunderland, and would be a safe bet for them to score. He’ll either be partnered by Campbell on Kenwyne Jones upfront.

Wolves are expected to make a number of changes to the squad that played in the Carling Cup. Michael Mancienne, who was ineligible to play against United, will return in central defence. Kevin Doyle and Andy Keogh are expected to start upfront instead of Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Stefan Mairhofer.

Wolves had a great result last week when they beat Fulham at home, and gave Man United a run for their money in the midweek League Cup clash.

Wolves form- last five games- all competitions

Man United 1-0 Wolves
Wolves 2-1 Fulham ( Kevin Doyle, Dave Edwards)
Blackburn 3-1 Wolves ( Stefan Mairhofer)
Wolves 1-1 Hull ( Stearman)
Wolves 0-0 Swindon Town

Sunderland, I think, will be too strong for Wolves at home.

Verdict:- Sunderland 2-1 Wolves ( Darren Bent, Kenwyne Jones/ Michael Mancienne)
