Wigan Athletic vs. Chelsea Betting Preview

Game: Wigan Athletic v Chelsea
Competition: Barclays Premier League
Venue: DW Stadium
Time: 15:00 GMT

League leaders Chelsea look to continue their marauding run to the start of the new season as they visit Wigan Athletic on Saturday. Chelsea are the only club in the League to have a 100% record and they would not want to compromise that against a lacklustre Wigan outfit.
Here are some excellent bookmakers for you to place a bet. Be sure to read our preview before heading over to bet.

Form guide – Chelsea (most recently played game on top)
v. QPR (Win) 1-0 (Kalou)
v. Tottenham (Win) 3-0 (A.Cole, Ballack,Drogba)
v. FC Porto(Win) 1-0 (Anelka)
v. Stoke (Win) 2-1 (Drogba, Malouda)

Chelsea have won all their games in all competitions this season and have the best defensive record in the League having conceded only three goals. Chelsea will make a host of changes to the team that started the game against QPR. Drogba and Anelka will resume their partnership up top while Petr Cech will start in goal. Joe Cole and Yuri Zhirkov played in midweek but are most likely to start on the bench. Daniel Sturridge and Deco are definitely out with calf strains.

Form guide –Wigan (most recently played game on top)
v. Arsenal (Loss) 0-4
v. West Ham (Win) 1-0 (Rodallega)
v. Everton (Loss) 1-2 (Scharner)
v. Blackpool (Loss) 1-4 (Amaya)

The Latics are in the middle of a woeful run. They have lost 10 out of their last 14 League games and have lost the last seven out of eight games against Chelsea. Out of the seven goals they have scored this season, five have come from Hugo Rodallega.

The bright spot is that Wigan have a full squad to choose from apart from Scott Sinclair who is ineligible to play against his parent club. The game will be a stern test for the Wigan back five. Kirkland, Figueroa, Boyce, Bramble and Melchiot will find it a herculean task to keep a clean sheet.

Match verdict: Even as I try to find positives for Wigan, I see none. Chelsea should score a comprehensive win. Wigan might match Chelsea physically on the pitch, but they’ll find it difficult to match their attacking finesse.
Chelsea 2-0 Wigan (Drogba, Lampard)
