NFL: It’s Way to Early for These Things

Wow. I guess some people in the media just never learn. Already some media people are declaring some teams dead while declaring other teams are headed to the playoffs or even to the Super Bowl. That’s just silly. Because the only thing that’s certain after the first couple weeks of the NFL season is that absolutely nothing is certain right now.
So yeah, plenty of the media is now declaring the Dallas Cowboys a team that’s a mess. And Tony Romo has once again proven he can’t win a big game. But if he had won that game, he would still need to win a big game. Why? Because that was only a “big game” because the media wants it to be. It fits with their tidy little story that they can spit out without actually writing anything that takes real work. Of course, no game in week 2 is ever a big game.
And the New York Giants are now the best team in football. Yes, they won two big divisional games but they only beat the lowly Washington Redskins and the turnover happy Cowboys. And excuse me, but how can the Cowboys be horrible and the Giants be awesome when they only thing that won the Giants the game was a fluke INT that bounced off Jason Witten’s foot?
And now the San Francisco 49ers are going to win their division. So are the Indianapolis Colts. And the Baltimore Ravens are the best team in the AFC.
Why do we even play 16 games? Why not play just 2 games every season? Why? Because the season is long and it takes time for the cream to rise to the top. And by the end of the season, much of what people think right now will be laughable. Just you wait. 2 weeks does not a season make. It doesn’t mean anything.

Nice post. Very true. The media is quick to jump to any conclusion they can. Then next week – everything will be flipped around again. It’s kinda humorous actually.
