Well, week 2 of the NFL season is in the books. And there are some interesting story lines emerging already. I touched on some of the major story lines last night. Today, I’m going to focus on a couple other story lines, including a major one from last night’s game between the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys.

The New York Giants beat the Dallas Cowboys in the opening of Dallas’ new stadium, Cowboys Stadium. The Giants kicked a last second field goal. In fact, the ball split the uprights just as time expired. But the game was won by the Giants – well actually more like lost by the Cowboys – long before that field goal. The game was lost when the Cowboys lost the turnover battle 4-0. If the Cowboys had managed to win with 4 more turnovers then that would’ve been a miracle.

3 of the 4 turnovers were INTs thrown by Tony Romo. One was a fluke pass that bounced off Jason Witten’s hand and off his heel and into the waiting arms of a Giants’ player. But the other 2 were very poor decisions and bad throws. Romo has to be better.

Still, the Cowboys put up 31 points on the Giants even with the turnovers. So their offense did well. The defense was horrendous in the 2nd half. But Tony can’t continue to play so poorly in big games. Luckily for him and the rest of the Cowboys they still have 14 more regular season games.

As for some other really big story lines, the Saints look to be for real. The Pats look like they’re going to struggle. And the Niners just might now be considered the favorites to win the NFC West.

However, it is only week 2. Some story lines will continue to play out all season but just about as many will fade and be forgotten. Only time will tell exactly what will happen the rest of this season.
