MLB: Dodgers Hearing Footsteps… Red Sox Too?

It’s incredible that the Los Angeles Dodgers haven’t just about wrapped up their division by this point in the baseball season. It’s even more incredible that they have the smallest lead of all of the division leaders in baseball. And they absolutely have to be hearing footsteps.
In the last 10 games the Dodgers and the Colorado Rockies have each won 6 of the 10. But the Rockies are currently on a 4 game winning streak. They’ve also come from a long way back over the course of the season. Let’s not forget that the Rockies were completely left for dead back in the spring. Now, they seriously might win the NL West. Seriously.
The Los Angeles Dodgers certainly have to be hearing footsteps. And they know that they’ve played worse baseball over the last couple of months. All of this makes for a very intriguing final 25 games or so.
I’ll readily admit that I thought the Dodgers would absolutely run away with this division. I thought the Dodgers were easily the best team in the National League. Now, I don’t know that they’re one of the 5 best teams in the NL. They better watch out or they won’t make the playoffs at all.
Meanwhile, the Boston Red Sox can’t be comfortable with their lead in the Wild Card in the American League. However, I don’t know that they’re hearing footsteps either. They certainly aren’t hearing them from the Tampa Bay Rays who are now all but out of the race thanks to losing 5 straight games – many of them very close games that could have easily gone the other way.
But the Texas Rangers are certainly within striking distance and they have the talent to overtake the Red Sox. But they have yet to make that big push. When the Red Sox lose they seem to lose too. So, they haven’t been able to get any closer than about 2 or 3 games. However, all it would take is one good week from the Rangers and one average week from the Red Sox. That’s very possible. But the Rangers are certainly running out of games and they better hurry and make that run.
