NFL: Looking at the Rest of the NFC

A couple days ago we looked at the NFC East. I took the New York Giants to win the division and the Dallas Cowboys to finish in a close second. Today we’ll take a look the other 3 divisions in the NFC.
Let’s begin with the NFC North. This is a really tough division to predict. The Green Bay Packers were the class of the division a couple years ago but fell on their faces last year. The Chicago Bears were the best 3 years ago but haven’t been very good the last couple of years. Now the Bears have Jay Cutler at quarterback. Last year the Minnesota Vikings were the best but they didn’t have a quarterback. Now they have Brett Favre. The one thing we do know is that Detroit will finish last. From there, I like the Packers to finish 3rd, the Bears to finish 2nd, and the Vikings to take the crown.
The NFC South will come down to either the Atlanta Falcons or the New Orleans Saints. The Falcons should be really good with Matt Ryan at quarterback. But New Orleans will once again have an awesome offense. Something tells me that Matt Ryan will hit a bit of sophomore slump and the Saints will take this division.
In the NFC West, the Arizona Cardinals will win the division. There just isn’t any team that will challenge them. Expect the Rams to be better and the Niners too, but they won’t be good enough. The Seahawks could be a nice sleeper pick but I just don’t see them challenging the Cards.
So, from the NFC we have the Giants, Vikings, Saints, and Cardinals all winning their divisions. Then I like the Cowboys as the first Wild Card team and the Bears as the second Wild Card team.
Tomorrow we’ll take a look at how I see the playoffs unfolding in the NFC. From there we’ll look at the AFC in the next couple of days. Then it will be time to get ready for some football on Thursday!

I think when you look at the NFC North you have to consider the fact that Brett Favre can either really help the Vikings, or destroy them.
I know you have them as first in the conference but doesn’t it make you kind of nervous that they’ll take some carries away from Taylor/Peterson and turn them into Brett “Wrangler” Favre passes? Those don’t always turn out well.
