This game comes just days after the unbelievable controversy at Ashton Gate which saw Crystal Palace lose a game after a horrendous piece of officiating. A Palace goal had clearly hit the back of the net yet because the ball had bounced straight back out, none of the officials could see and didn’t award it. Suffice to say Neil Warnock was fuming and his players will be well and truly up for this game, which sees them face an Ipswich side who are yet to taste victory under Roy Keane.

The fact that Ipswich are bankrolled by a multi-millionaire and managed by the legend of Roy Keane made many bookies tip the Tractor Boys as one of the favorites for promotion. However, so far things simply haven’t gone to plan and while it’s far too early to start worrying, Keane’s men have just collected the one point in the league so far. What’s more, while they did end up progressing on penalties, they were also held 3-3 by Shrewsbury in the Carling Cup. However, after turning Sunderland’s season on its head a few years ago and helping them reach the Premiership, supporters won’t be too concerned yet although obviously they would like to see the team collect three points sooner rather than later.

As for Crystal Palace, that disallowed goal could have turned their average start to the season into a very good one. So far the Eagles have just collected the one point from their opening two games after they ended up losing in the controversial Bristol City game. However, if their goal had stood, they would have been ahead and the game would have been a completely different proposition for City. Instead, they sit in 18th position and with financial constraints restricting their movement in the transfer market, it’s certainly tough times at Selhurst Park. However, considering Neil Warnock’s experience in this division, you still can’t imagine them being anywhere near the relegation fonder.

Roy Keane has something of a selection headache for this one as Jamie Peters, Ben Thatcher and David Norris all prepare to sit this one out. With such players missing, Keane is expected to hand fringe and youth players and opportunity. As for Palace, they don’t have much to report on. Having picked up an elbow injury in the first game Stern John will be out again, while Darren Ambrose is the only doubt for Neil Warnock.

Crystal Palace will be riled following their game on Saturday but still, we’re tipping Ipswich for this one. The Tractor Boys have had a slow start to the season but on paper their squad is much stronger than Palace’s and Roy Keane must be due his first win over 90 minutes soon – 2-0, home win.
