The Detroit Pistons (28-18) entertains the Boston Celtics (12-34) in a game between the best and the worst teams in the Eastern Conference. How the Celtics have fallen from the heady days of the past while Detroit is currently the most dominating team in the East. Under Joe Dumars front office leadership, the Pistons have made the Eastern Conference Finals for the past 4 years and no team in the East is seriously threatening them.
In the past 10 home games against the Celtics, Detroit had won 7 games. On the ATS, Detroit has a 3-7 record. In their past 10 games, Detroit is 7-3 while Boston is 0-10. This season, the Pistons are 20-10 at home while the Celtics are a dismal 8-15 on the road.
The Pistons has no major injury worries. All the players are healthy and they even have the luxury of having too many forwards. In their last game against the Cavaliers, Detroit showed that they are still the team to beat in the East. They played great defense and executed brilliantly on offense. The Celtics are missing Tony Allen, Paul Pierce and Theo Ratliff. Paul Pierce is Celtics top scorer while Tony Allen is an important contributor. Theo Ratliff is a good rebounder but he’s actually on the down side of his career. In their absence, Boston will need miraculous performances from Wally Szczerbiak, Al Jefferson and Ryan Gomes. The Pistons are looking more dangerous now with Chris Webber playing center because they have 5 to 6 players who can score a bundle on any night.
Take the Pistons at (-11.5) handicap offered at Bodog. Boston is free falling.
