Just as things are starting to work themselves out in the American League, the same is happening over in the National League. In fact, the Phillies and the Dodgers have put a strangle hold on their divisions. The Philadelphia Phillies are 6.5 up in the East and the Dodgers are 8 games up in the West.

When looking at the NL East it’s tough to see any team making a major run at the Phillies. Sure the Phillies could struggle but they won’t. And the Braves, Marlins, and Mets don’t have what it takes to catch them.

Before we move on it needs to be mentioned that the Phillies seem to be the front runners to land Roy Halladay right now. The Blue Jays are asking for a lot. But if the Phillies land him, look out. The Dodgers will suddenly look like a team that is playing for 2nd place.

In the West, the Rockies have overtaken the Giants for second place in the division. But nobody’s going to catch the Los Angeles Dodgers. Just give them the division right now.

Over in the Central is where all the drama resides. The Chicago Cubs have taken the lead but only by a half game over the St. Louis Cardinals. Then the Houston Astros are just 2 games back and the Milwaukee Brewers are just 3 games back. Even the Cincinnati Reds are only 7.5 games back. So this division is wide open.

But I’m telling you, it’s will come down to the Cardinals and the Cubs. It will. These 2 teams have great managers and they have enough talent. It seems like the Cubs always find a way to screw things up though (and they really do). So I still like the Cards in this division.

So, we’re looking at the Phillies, Cardinals, and Dodgers all winning their division. And, if the Phillies land Halladay then I think the rest of the league is in a lot of trouble.
