MLB: Teams Getting Hot

Wow. There are some teams who’ve come out of the All Star Break absolutely on fire. And these teams are looking to ride a wave that will put them in a great position to make the playoffs.
The hottest team right now has to the New York Yankees. But the Los Angeles Dodgers are hot too. So are the Texas Rangers and the Anaheim Angels. Even though the Phillies lost last night, they’ve been really hot over the last couple of weeks. And the Atlanta Braves have gotten on a roll too.
The Braves are actually looking to stay close enough to the Philadelphia Phillies. But even with winning 4 straight games they are still 5.5 games back in the NL East. I don’t think the Phillies will come back to the rest of the division. But the Braves certainly have a shot at the Wild Card in the National League.
Meanwhile. both the Angels and the Rangers are playing great baseball in the American League West. The Angels have won 5 straight games and the Rangers have won 4 straight games. Even the Seattle Mariners have won 7 of their last 10 games. They are only 5.5 games out in the West. This is shaping up to be very interesting. However, I don’t see the Angels losing this division. I just don’t.
In the AL East the Yankees pushed their slim lead in the AL East to 2 games. The Yankees have won 6 straight and they’re now 20 games over .500. Meanwhile, the Red Sox have lost 5 straight games. So the Yankees and Red Sox are going in opposite directions. I just don’t see the Red Sox keeping pace. However, the Red Sox have owned the Yankees head-to-head and that could very well even things out. Let’s face it, the Yankees haven’t beaten the Red Sox this season. Has the Yankees just taken 1 game in each series they would be about 5 games up on the Red Sox right now.
