Today the baseball season will get back into full swing and it will stay that way all the way to the playoffs. And this weekend has some great match-ups that will be a lot of fun to watch.

3 of the best match-ups are: the Detroit Tigers visiting the New York Yankees, the Philadelphia Phillies visiting the Florida Marlins, and the Minnesota Twins visiting the Texas Rangers. These are all teams at or near the top of their division who really want to start the 2nd half of the season the right way.

Last night the Phillies and the Marlins started their series and the Phillies took care of business winning 4-0. The Phillies now have a 5 game lead in the NL East. The Marlins better win 2 of the next 3 or the Phillies just might start rolling away from all the other teams in the East.

The Rangers are trying to catch the Angels in the AL West and the Twins are trying to catch the Tigers in the Central. So, both teams really want to win this series. For the Twins though, they’ve been struggling lately so they want to get back on track and play well in Texas.

Finally, the Tigers and the Yankees will be a very fun series to watch. The Tigers have the edge in pitching but the Yankees have a huge advantage in offense. The Tigers haven’t been a good road team either. But this is the first time the Tigers have played in the homer friendly new Yankees Stadium.

A couple things to keep an eye on: Tonight the Tigers will start the recently called-up Lucas French on the mound. Can he handle the pressure? The Yankees have had trouble hitting “new” pitchers that they face. So, can the Yankees score runs on him?

The Yankees will send Burnett to the mound. He’s been very good but his last few starts have been a little wild. So, will he walk guys and get in trouble?

We will see. This weekend should have a lot of great baseball.
