Chelsea vs Wigan Athletic

Chelsea go into this match still 6 points behind league leader Manchester United and will be looking to keep the gap as small as possible till they have their full squad back with the likes of Terry and Cech so they can mount a serious challenge later on. The champions kick off exactly at the same United do, so we will know by the end of the match as to what the point difference will be. This seasons premiership title is turning out to be the most interesting and both teams are treating every match like a Cup final.
Jose Mourinho is hoping John Terry will be fit for next weeks clash against Arsenal as he is already ruled out of this fixture, but it is seriously doubtful. Didier Drogba will be back after serving a suspension along with Ricardo Carvalho. Arjen Robben is still a doubt for this match and will face a late fitness test along with Carlo Cudicini. Ashley Cole will not feature in this match due to a suspension. The defensive worries continue for Chelsea with Khalid Boulahrouz still out injured.
Wigan will be going into this match with five back to back defeats and Paul Jewell is furious with the team at the moment. Even with such poor form, they are 4 points clear of the relegation place as they started off the season very well. Ryan Taylor will be back after almost a year and could start on the bench after returning from a broken foot. Arjan de Zeeuw, Andreas Granqvist and Henri Camara are all still out which makes the Wigan manager’s job even more difficult.
Chelsea to win this match 2-1 is my bet at the odds of 8.50. You can also go for an alternative bet of ‘both teams to score’ at the odds of 2.10 which is a good possibility looking at the Chelsea defense.
