Manchester United vs Aston Villa

The Red Devils begin their challenge for the most prestigious Cup in the history of English football. Manchester United face Aston Villa at home after coming of a relatively good Christmas period. Even though United dropped two points at St. James’ Park, it wasn’t a disastrous result as Chelsea dropped points against a difficult Villa team. Manchester United have won the FA Cup 11 times before and this is the maximum number of times any team has won this cup. 5 of these 11 successful FA Cup campaigns have been under the leadership of Sir Alex Ferguson.
United will be without Wayne Rooney for this match as the manager is looking to give the young striker a break after a very hectic first half of the season. This will mean a start for former Celtic and Barcelona star Henrik Larsson to start up front along with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Van der Sar might also be rested for this match with Tomasz Kuszczak coming in as his replacement. Gareth Barry will be back for the Villans after serving a suspension by missing the match against Chelsea. Olof Mellberg will be out for this match. Thomas Sorensen is still a doubt for this match, but on loan Kiraly will be playing in goal after receiving permission from the FA.
United should win this match, but it won’t be too easy for them. I am going for a 2-1 victory for the Red Devils which is at the odds of 8.0. A safer bet would be an Asian Handicap on Aston Villa ( +1.5 ) at 1.90. Henrik Larsson to score the first goal and United to win 2-1 gets you odds of 141.00.

It will be great if new loan signing Henrik Larsson make his debut for Manchester United on Sunday against Aston Villa, an extremely good striker with an eye for goals. He will compliment Wayne Rooney quite well or partner with either Loius Saha and Ole Gunnar Solksjaer.

Larsson is indeed a great loan signing for Man Utd, even if it’s only for 3 months!

I’m guessing Ferguson might not put a full strenght squad and may even start with 1 striker for tonight’s encounter. FA Cup is important but regaining back the Premiership crown is even more and now is the chance to do it with Chelsea not playing up to expectation.

Wow, pointed by Rush “Henrik Larsson to score the first goal and United to win 2-1 gets you Odds of 141.00.” that’s the exact result! Larsson’s first goal and lucky strike by old guard Solksjaer bring the game to 2-1 at full time. Great to see Larsson grabbing his first goal for Manchester United on his 3 months loan stint, what a legend!
