Tonight 2 huge match-ups will take place in the American League. To figure out why they are big games you only have to look at the top of the standings in the American League. In the AL East you have the New York Yankees leading the division. They are closely followed by the Boston Red Sox who are only a game back. In the AL Central the Detroit Tigers are in 1st by 3.5 games and in the AL West the Texas Rangers are on top of the division by 4.5 games.

What’s more: The best teams (according to record) in the American League are (in order): the Texas Rangers, the New York Yankees, the Detroit Tigers, and the Boston Red Sox. And you know what? All 4 of those teams are about to play each other.

The New York Yankees are about to host the Texas Rangers and the Detroit Tigers are about to host the Boston Red Sox. This could very well be a preview of the 1st round of the playoffs. And both of these series will be a lot of fun to watch (even though it’s barely June).

The media loves the Texas Rangers. The so-called experts in the media have fallen all over themselves to say how great the Rangers’ hitting is and how great their pitching is. The Rangers are the darling of baseball. But there’s one problem: They got swept by the Tigers in Detroit not too long ago. How they perform in New York will tell me a lot about how good this team really is.

Meanwhile, the Red Sox are a tough team to figure out. And, I’m hesitant to say the Tigers are for real. Now, the Tigers won’t be throwing their 2 best pitchers in this series while the Red Sox will be. So the Tigers will have an excuse. But still, the winner of this series will be looking pretty good for the rest of the season.

Of course, the Yankees are always fun to watch, seriously this is the team who has had one of the greatest baseball players of all time. Reggie Jackson! He’s so outstanding that he played for five teams. This guy is a true legend and still seems to amamze people due to the fact that he’s one of the many legends playing in a poker tournament this fall in the Atlantis. Who what have thought?
