Bulldogs robbed by video referee

Controversy reigned in the NRL rugby league after the Bulldogs were delayed a definite try by the video referee. Steve Clark made the decision which gave the Dragons the victory. As upset as the Bulldogs were those whose NRL betting was affected by this outcome.
In other NRL results, Brisbane had a good win over the Gold Coast while Newcastle hammered the hapless Roosters into submission.
The NRL odds of Manly are continuing to shrink as they find some of their premiership form. They smashed Parramatta in what would have been a very satisfying result. Similarly pleasing would have been South Sydney’s last gasp win over the West Tigers. A last-minute field-goal gave victory to the Rabbitohs. North Queensland continued its resurgence with a win in Auckland while Cronulla’s year didn’t improve after the Panthers narrowly got the better of them.Melbourne hammered Canberra to keep their resurgence going.
This week, the Bulldogs against Melbourne looks to be the match of the round. Both are playing some good football and have a healthy respect for each other. Manly face a big test in going up to Skilled park to take on the Titans.
In AFL football, the horror years of Melbourne and Richmond continue. They both suffered heartbreaking narrow AFL results to consign them to the bottom of the AFL ladder. Hawthorn had a good win away to Fremantle while the tradition of West Coast –Sydney thrillers continued. Favorites to meet in the AFL Grand Final; Geelong and St Kilda were too good for North Melbourne and Essendon respectively while Carton piled on the agony for Collingwood with a comfortable win.
Round 9 of the AFL fixture has thrown up some interesting games. Geelong is up against the Western Bulldogs in what should be a good test for both teams. Collingwood travel across the country to take on the West Coast with the seasons of both sides on the line. Brisbane will try to be the first team in 2009 to defeat St Kilda while Sydney host Port Adelaide.
The Ashes continues to creep closer. Not much is happening with the Australians who are at a training camp, but England are playing the West Indies as part of the build-up for Ashes 2009. The weather is cold and the West Indies aren’t putting up much of a fight. Expect the quality of the upcoming cricket in the Ashes to be much higher.
