MLB: Dodgers Stay Perfect at Home

The Los Angeles Dodgers are still undefeated. Well, sort of.

The Dodgers are a perfect 9-0 at home. That home record has boosted them to the best record in baseball (tied with the St. Louis Cardinals). And it’s also given them the largest lead in any division in baseball. The Dodgers lead the NL West by 4.5 games. That’s a substantial lead just a month into the season.

The Dodgers beat the San Diego Padres 2-1 yesterday. This was a game that shows how good the Dodgers really are. They got down a run early but tied it up midway through the game and then they won the game in the bottom of the 10th inning. Games like that show what a team is really made of. And this Dodgers team is made-up of of good hitters, good pitching, and good managing. That should all add up to the Dodgers easily winning the NL West.

Meanwhile, checking up on the AL East, the Toronto Blue Jays are still on top. They won yesterday in the 11th inning. But the Boston Red Sox are still just a game back. The Red Sox beat the Rays to stay hot. But that did drop the Rays back another game and the Yankees also lost to Anaheim and lost a game in the standings.

So the Yankees are 3 games back and the Rays are 6.5 games back. The Rays better string some wins together soon or else they’ll find themselves with a lot of ground to make up and a lot of teams to crawl over when the summer really gets hot.

The closest race in baseball, the AL Central, continues to see a different first place team just about every day. Now the Kansas City Royals are back in first and the Tigers and White Sox are just a .5 game back. The Minnesota Twins are just a game back.
