MLB: Many Big Games on Tap for this Weekend

Do I need to give the usual disclaimer of it being early in the season? Nah, not anymore. Besides, games this time of year count just as much as games in September and October. And there are some games that will count a lot that are about to be played this weekend.
Obviously the biggest series of the weekend is the Boston Red Sox hosting the New York Yankees. This is the biggest rivalry in baseball. A couple week ago it didn’t look like it would be worth very much but thanks to winning streaks for both teams, this series could raise a team to the top of the AL East. It will definitely result in one team being in sole possession of 2nd place.
The Red Sox are red-hot right now. They’ve won 7 straight games after beginning the season an abysmal 2-6. The Yanks have won 3 straight games after wallowing just below .500 at the beginning of the season. It will be very interesting to see how these games go. Something tells me one of these teams might be a fraud. Maybe we’ll see evidence of that this weekend. If I had to name which team might be the fraud, I’d go with Boston. But again, we’ll see this weekend.
Another big series this weekend will involve the Detroit Tigers visiting the Kansas City Royals. These 2 teams are tied atop the AL Central with the Chicago White Sox. The Royals are a surprise so far. But can they handle the Tigers’ bats?
The final series to keep an eye on is in the American League too. That’s the first place Toronto Blue Jays taking on the first place Chicago White Sox. One bad series by either team could knock them out of first place. A good series by either club could propel them to have a great May and build their lead in their division.
